GYP was formally created in 2006 at the 38th WFUNA Plenary Assembly in Buenos Aires, Argentina by a group of young representatives from several UNAs, including those of the Dominican Republic, Netherlands, Tanzania, UK and USA.
Further strengthened in 2009 at the 39th WFUNA Plenary Assembly in Seoul, Republic of Korea, GYP continues to develop as a body and to promote the creation of young professionals programmes amoungst the global network of United Nations Associations.
