By tradition, the NGIZ organizes on a yearly basis –running from September to July- the socalled Van Bylandt series of lectures (supported by the Dutch Countess Van Bylandt Foundation), for which prominent Dutch and foreign guest lecturers are asked to present their views on an important international, topical theme.
This series of lectures is traditionally devoted to one overarching topic. Last year, this topic was the global financial and economic crisis and its impact on the international relations of power, in particular on the position of the EU and the Netherlands. This year, the overarching theme is the Arab Spring: its causes, impact and prospects.
We are honoured to inform you that Mr. Abdel Bari Atwan is coming to The Netherlands as a key note speaker for the second Van Bylandt lecture in which the effects of the social media and the role of the younger generation - in particular taking into account their weak socio-economic position - on the Arab Spring will be presented and discussed.
Location: Senaatszaal, Universiteit van Utrecht
Time: 19.30 hrs.welcome, lecture begins at 20.00 hrs. Informal reception as from 21.30 hrs onwards.
